Almyrida Bay

Almyrida is a popular seaside village with a lovely, mostly sandy, beach within a sweeping sheltered bay.  There are many beach-hugging restaurants serving good food at competitive prices as well as several ATMs and car hire establishments.  Windsurfing and other water sports, diving as well as coach trips to other resorts and attractions are all to hand.

Plaka is a lovely Greek village a short, albeit fairly steep, walk up from Almyrida where you can see stunning views of the White Mountains and Souda Bay as well as walk through olive groves around the headlands.  Plaka (one of the film locations for the film 'Zorba the Greek') has several really good family restaurants where you can have a memorable mid-day or evening meal or get refreshments if out walking.  Many of the hotels and restaurants in and around Almyrida often put on superb musical events and entertainment, as well as being a source of local information about available trips and other events or things of interest.

Here are a few of the events we have personally enjoyed in recent years as a taster of what you may like to watch out for this year:

31st August 2017 Plaka - Greek Dancing at Elpis Restaurant:

5:00pm - 7:00pm Every Day - Happy Hour at the Almyrida Residence Hotel (on the Top Floor Terrace) - open to non-residents so why not enjoy a cocktail?

Our friend and fabulous singer Margarita Cox, accompanied by Nikos Alexakis - a brilliant guitarist, performing at the Almyrida Residence.  Listen to some of their music here.
